Parke, thanks for posting this very interesting talk. I'm reminded of the therapists in the 70's who were courageous enough to suggest that anything being labeled 'client resistance' was likely to be better understood as 'therapist failure' to connect with that client... I perked up too when I heard Miller use the term "Zone of Proximal Development,' the concept pioneered by Lev Vygotsky - so I haven't heard 'ZPD' used anywhere outside of an Early Childhood Education class...
